CARB releases results of multi-year E15 study; multiple air quality benefits with slight reduction in fuel economy

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has released the results of a multiyear study evaluating exhaust emissions from the use of California Reformulated Gasoline (CaRFG) that contains 15 volume percent ethanol (E15). Nikkei: Honda’s next-gen Fit Hybrid to overtake Toyota Aqua in fuel economy

The Nikkei reports that the hybrid version of Honda’s next-generation Fit, powered by a newly developed engine and electric motor, is capable of delivering fuel economy of about 36 km/l of gasoline (84.7 The Aqua posts JC08 fuel economy of 35.4 mpg US, or 2.8 l/100 km) in tests based on the JC08.

Nissan launches new Note Aura in Japan; enhanced e-POWER electrified powertrain

e-POWER uses a highly efficient gasoline engine to generate electricity for the electric motor that propels the vehicle. The second-generation e-POWER system features an all-new electric motor and inverter. Electric motor torque was increased by 10% and output by 6%. The new inverter is 40% smaller and 30% lighter.

EPA annual trends report finds new vehicle fuel economy at record 24.1 mpg; new powertrain technologies rapidly gaining share

EPA released the latest edition of its annual report on trends in CO 2 emissions, fuel economy and powertrain technology for new personal vehicles in the US.
