Rhodium Group estimates US GHG fell 2.1% in 2019, driven by coal decline

Green Car Congress

This decline was due almost entirely to a drop in coal consumption. Coal-fired power generation fell by a record 18% year-on-year to its lowest level since 1975. An increase in natural gas generation offset some of the climate gains from this coal decline, but overall power sector emissions still decreased by almost 10%.

LLNL’s Energy Flow Diagrams Show That The US Isn’t Moving The Needle On Climate Action

CleanTechnica EVs

In 7 years of electrification and deployment of wind and solar, the US barely budged the needle, in fact declining slightly to more wasted energy in 2016 and 2017 before improving again in 2018 and onward.

Argonne LCA study finds many alternative fuels consume more water than petroleum and natural gas fuels

Green Car Congress

electricity generation pathways have both the smallest (wind) and largest (hydropower) impact on water resources. Thermoelectric power generation pathways consume more than twice the water of fossil fuel pathways primarily for waste heat dissipation.

Using the PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle) to Transition Society Seamlessly and Profitably From Fossil Fuel to 100% Renewable Energy

Green Car Congress

It offers the solution to several significant transitions we need: moving society from burning fossil fuels to substituting renewable resource fuels such as solar, wind and biofuels; and from using fossil materials as fuel to using them for other recyclable uses. Distributed Solar and Wind with the PHEV. It is much more than that.

Solar Smackdown in Torrance – Installer Sues City on Behalf of the Sun

Creative Greenius

These zoning decisions blow in whatever direction the development winds are gusting in the city at the moment and there is no consistency, logic or equity in the decisions made. Just two people live in its 3000+ energy-wasting square feet. It’s just this mind-blowing waste of time. And at sub $3 you’re cheaper than coal.

A Skeptic’s Take on Beaming Power to Earth from Space

Cars That Think

Energy experts have been warning that electricity is likely to get more expensive and less reliable unless renewable power that waxes and wanes under inconstant sunlight and wind is backed up by generators that can run whenever needed. Chris Philpot Then, a decade ago, private-sector startups generated another flurry of media attention.
