Now, a team led by researchers from Texas A&M AgriLife Research has identified the first committed step in the biosynthesis of hydrocarbon oil in B. Some of the substrates are 20 carbons long, some are 15 carbons long. In terms of fuel, it's better to start with a higher carbon number molecule. Tim Devarenne.
