Despite reports that global emissions of the potent greenhouse gas, HFC-23, were almost eliminated in 2017, an international team of scientists, led by the University of Bristol, has found atmospheric levels growing at record values. As a result, they reported that they had almost completely eliminated HFC-23 emissions by 2017.

Waste and recycling company Republic Services, Inc. has deployed 23 compressed natural gas (CNG) solid waste and recycling trucks to serve customers throughout the Twin Cities area. Nationwide, the company plans to have more than 3,100 trucks nationwide running on natural gas and other alternative fuels by the end of 2015.

These standards will result in significant GHG emissions reductions and fuel efficiency improvements across all of these vehicle types. For example, when the standards are fully phased in, tractors in a tractor-trailer will achieve up to 25% lower CO 2 emissions and fuel consumption than an equivalent tractor in 2018.

The Partnership aims to “ accelerate the introduction of advanced truck and bus technologies that use less fuel, have greater fuel diversity, operate more safely, are more reliable, meet future emissions standards, and are cost effective.” The 21CTP was formed in 2001 to reduce fuel usage and emissions in trucks of Classes 3 through 8.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released its latest set of proposed standards to reduce emissions of methane and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the oil and natural gas industry. The proposed updates also add emissions reduction requirements for sources of methane and VOC pollution that were not covered in the 2012 rules.
