DOE reports progress on development of hydrogen storage technologies

For the near-term, the focus is on improving performance and lowering the cost of high-pressure compressed hydrogen storage systems. Related to this, DOE seeks by 2020 to develop novel precursors and conversion processes capable of reducing the high-volume cost of high-strength carbon fiber by 25% from $13 per pound to ~$9 per pound.
