A national phone survey by the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI) found that a majority of Americans would support higher taxes for. The survey results show that very low support levels for a one-time gas-tax increase or a new mileage tax can be raised by modifying how the tax is structured and the way it is described.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 33% of likely US Voters would favor a modest increase in the gas tax even if they knew the revenue would be used only to pay for building, maintaining and repairing the Interstate Highway System. Fifteen percent (15%) are undecided. 17% are undecided. 17% are undecided.

Ive found it facinating how car commercials changed the main MPG number they promoted before gas went over $4 a gallon as city miles. By the time he finally, and happily, got rid of it, he said the friggin piece of junk used more gas than his small Honda because tow trucks get crappy milage. The management at GM are liars.
