XL Fleet Corp. announced a battery and power electronics development and supply agreement and an investment in eNow, Inc., a provider of solar and battery power systems that enable fully-electric Transport Refrigeration Units (eTRUs) for Class 8 commercial trailers.

A consortium comprising Solaris Bus & Coach, Impact Clean Power Technology S.A. and TAURON Polska Energia will implement a project titled “Second Life ESS” with the aim to create a prototype system to store electric energy based on retired electric bus batteries. Solaris launched its first electric bus back in 2011.

Since the end of 2011, five Mercedes-Benz Citaro FuelCELL Hybrid models have been serving on routes in and around Brugg (in the canton of Aargau) as PostAuto vehicles. A new addition is lithium-ion batteries, which store energy that is recovered during braking.
