Zhejiang Geely Holding Group set a new export sales record in December with 11,000 cars being exported during the month, which also helped the company increase its export sales over the course of 2012 by 164%. The EC7 series alone sold more than 30,000 units, an increase of more than 500% in year-on-year comparison with 2011 export figures.

Panasonic Corporation and Tesla Motors have expanded their 2011 supply agreement so that Panasonic will now supply nearly 2 billion automotive-grade lithium-ion battery cells to Tesla through 31 December 2017 at long-term preferential prices. Panasonic established the Automotive & Industrial Systems Company earlier this year.

Ford Motor Company has awarded Toshiba a major contract to supply electric drive motors for hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Toshiba Corporation will expand manufacturing capacity at its plant in Houston, Texas for production of the high-performance drive motors for HEV, PHEV and EV applications.

Western Lithium USA Corporation has announced that its 2010 and 2011 drill program has resulted in a significant increase to the project’s resource size. The company expects that the new resource will provide for increased feedstock grade to the proposed lithium carbonate process plant. as of 28 June 2011.
