A new report by the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) finds that greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from road transport in the UK rose by 6% from 1990 to 2017. Total fuel used for road transport in the UK remained relatively stable from 1990 to 2017 as the fuel efficiency of newer vehicles has improved.

The UK government’s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) approved the field development plan put forward by Statoil and its co-venturers for the Mariner heavy oil field. Statoil expects to start production from Mariner in 2017, and the field is expected to produce for 30 years. Location of the Mariner field.

That’s higher than the 3% gain in 2018, but lower than the 13% gains posted in 2016 and 2017.
