Consumption of anhydrous ethanol has grown steadily since the 1990s, peaking in 2003. Although it previously used a hydrous ethanol blend, Brazil shifted toward the aforementioned anhydrous ethanol, which is used in a ratio of ethanol to gasoline of 20-24:80-76.
