1 Given that US EPA fuel economy figures for the vehicles are not yet available, we are using the ECE fuel consumption figures from Europe as a means to provide a comparison across vehicles, and are providing the estimated EPA figure where available. How does this sound: 100+ MPG in a regular vehicle? The comparison keeps being raised, though studies are conclusive: The "well-to-wheel" emissions of electric vehicles are lower than those from gasoline internal combustion vehicles. What Are Plug-In Hybrids? We can achieve that -- today -- with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles.
