Toyota Prius modders have already been adding larger batteries so the vehicle can run on battery power. A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator. I had surmised this in my 2002 car design thesis [link] even before anyone was talking about plug in series hybrids.
