The concept is supported by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. With the help of a 2000 kWh Repack container, an inland vessel can sail for two to four hours. The emphasis during the initial stage will be on converted and newly-built container carriers. Barge power usage varies from 500 to 1000 kW.
