I could drive-away a Tesla Model 3 RWD (513km range) for around $66,000, while Chinese SUV rivals like the BYD Atto 3 and MG4 offer better specs for less.

The Chinese-made five-door hatchback sells from about $40,000, providing a budget way into an EV. Step up to the Ora Extended Range and it’s a hefty $6000 leap (that model only received a $2000 reduction as part of the recent price reductions) to make it $45,990 plus on-roads. Like all EV rivals, it also lacks a spare wheel.

If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. Posted by: GSP | Apr 14, 2009 9:07:50 AM Funny, BYD (chinese) already came out with their version of the volt this year. GM cant do it but a 15 year old chinese car company can.now thats funny!
